Resumen
El turismo medico ha venido en desarrollo los últimos años como una importante línea de
negocios al redordel mundo.

En Colombia, se constituye además como una de las

principales estrategias que las instituciones de salud están desarrollando para
contrarrestar los efectos de la crisis actual del sistema de salud colombiano. En los últimos
años, Colombia ha desarrollado estrategias desde el Gobierno y el sector privado para
impulsar dicho sector y mostrar a Colombia como el nuevo paraíso para elturismo medico
mundial. Algunos Clúster como el de la ciudad de Medellín han enfocado y mejorado sus
esfuerzos en cuanto a mercadeo, publicidad e infraestructura de la red de proveedores de
salud que hacen parte del Clúster.
En este trabajo, queremos mostrar una mirada al estado actual de este negocio en
Colombia y las estrategias desarrolladas por sus diferentes actores para convertir a
Colombia enun destino de turismo de salud que compita a nivel mundial y que se convierta
en alternativa real de negocios para las instituciones de salud colombianas.

ABSTRACT

The medical tourism has been growing since the last few years as a very important business
around the word. Many countries around the word found in this area a newopportunity of
business. In Colombia, this activity is one of the principal skills that the health institutions
have to face the actual crisis in the Colombian Health System.
Colombia, in the last years has been development since the Government and the Private
sector some strategies to impulse this sector to show Colombia as the new Paradise for the
Medical Tourism.

Some Cluster as the one located atMedellin have been showing

important improvement about merchandising, publicity and the improvement of the
infrastructures of the Network provider.
We want to show you a look about the actual statement of this sector of the Economy in
Colombia, what is the new Colombia’s strategy to win this market and what are the
situations to face to impulse the Health tourism in Colombia.
