No wonder that our country Colombia is the largest exporter of drugs in the entire world, especially cocaine that sales produce millions of dollars to fund armed groups called guerrillas,paramilitaries, and organized crime urban bands. These groups cause crimes, deaths, misery, and a large internal war. Colombia needs to legalized drugs for three main reasons; for less support of war, for crimereduction and for funding education and health, things that this country really needs.
Cocaine trade is a very profitable business, equivalent to 1% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), enough toarm over 25.000 “guerros”, Colombian paramilitaries and drugs traders, producing an untold number of murders, kidnappings, extortions and countless crimes that don’t have truce. And last but not leastthe Colombian government currently spends 6.3% of GDP; these are billions of dollars trying to end this war that hasn’t any progress but more deaths and more misery for people from Colombia.Legalizing drug is the solutions of all these problems, because the price of these drugs will be so low that no one would work in this business, which means that armed groups won’t have the capacity to buyweapons with the latest technology, equipment for war and not even recruit young people, children and women for war.
A recognized Bolivian columnist Aira Mauricio says that “legalization wouldn’t enddrugs trafficking but would increase, crimes, poverty, displaced people for war and perhaps that young people and children can get these drugs in an easier way causing intoxication and death”. Butnowadays drugs are already sold like hot cakes to children and young people. So to solve this problem, drugs sales can be regulated by a rule that prohibits the sale to minors, drugs can also be controlledby the legal market of Colombia that would allow a quality review in order to avoid overdose deaths or poisoning.
