Colon City
Colón is a province of the Republic of Panama. Its area of 4868.4 km ². Its population is 232,748 inhabitants (2010) 1 and a density of 46.7 inhabitants per km ² (2004). Its territory is located the northern section of the Panama Canal.
Bordered on the north by the Caribbean Sea, south to Panama and Cocle provinces, east of the Kuna Yala and west with the province of Veraguas. Theprovince of Colon is located in the Caribbean to the Panama Canal entrance, just 55 minutes drive from the Pacific, is the main port for the traffic of almost all goods imported and re-export of the country. In importance, Columbus is the second city of the Republic, but its trade, it could boast of being the capital of the hemisphere.
The largest port system in Latin America, is located on theAtlantic entrance of the Panama Canal. This port system located in Columbus consists of: Colon Container Terminal (Evergreen Administered), Manzanillo International Terminal (Operated by the Stevedoring Services of America), Panama Port Terminal (Administered by Hutchison Whampoa) and Colon Port Terminal.
