WHAT CULTURAL INFLUENCES AFFECT THE HOSPITALITY AND CATERING INDUSTRY
The hospitality and the catering business are both growing and innovating every day. Constantly we hear news about new“trends” that are emerging in both of those areas. Even though there are common trends, as I mentioned before, each culture has its own identity and therefore there own interpretation on what both thehospitality and the catering industries should be about.
When doing research, I came across many different elements that affect both the hospitality and catering industries, bot I can conclude on these top 7items:
* Social trends: they influence both the hospitality and the catering industries because social trends depend strictly on “fashion” and “what’s hot” on a certain country. For example, wesee that the trend right now in the United States is very modern and it involves lots of patterns and pops of color, while in Guatemala, the trend is subtler, it involves complementing the modern withMayan textures and crafts.
* Costs: costs are also something that alters both of the topics mentioned before. They depend enormously on the economy of the country, their geographical features etc.For example, in the catering business, if you were in Italy serving seafood would be cheaper than serving elk or boar, as it would be in Germany. Italy has more coasts and that makes it have anadvantage on seafood.
* Cultural trends: cultural trends affect the hospitality and the catering business since they rely upon the religious values and the beliefs of each country or nation. Forexample, serving food you eat with your hands would not be an inconvenient in India, while in England it would be disrespectful.
* Legislation: the legislation has a major influence since it is basicallywhat regulates what can or can’t be done in the industry.
* Regulations set by Environmental Health Officers: they also have a major influence since they state the minimum environmental...
