COMPARATIVO Y SUPERLATIVO

COMPARATIVO: MÁS…QUE

Hay que tener en cuenta si el adjetivo es corto o largo.
A. ADJETIVO CORTO: (una o dos sílabas) añadimos -ER (que significa más) al adjetivo.
Tall(alto) ……………….taller (más alto)
Young (joven)…………younger (más joven)
B. ADJETIVO LARGO: (tres o más sílabas) se forma MORE + ADJETIVO
Intelligent (inteligente) ……………….more intelligent (másinteligente)
El comparativo se forma con MÁS (-er; more)……..QUE (THAN)
Ella es más alta que yo = She is TALLER THAN me
Peter es más inteligente que Tom = Peter is MORE INTELLIGENT THAN Tom

SUPERLATIVO: ELMÁS….DE

A. ADJETIVO CORTO: se forma con THE + adjetivo acabado en –EST
Tall (alto)……………………….the tallest (el más alto)
Young (joven)………………….the youngest (el más joven)
B. ADJETIVO LARGO: se forma con THEMOST + ADJETIVO
Intelligent (inteligente)……………………the most intelligent (el más inteligente)
El superlativo es: EL MÁS, LA MÁS, LOS MÁS, LAS MÁS (the –est, the most+adjetivo)…….. DEL, DE LA, DE LOS, DELAS (IN THE….)
Ella es la más alta del colegio= She is the tallest in the school.
Peter es el más inteligente de la clase= Peter is the most intelligent in the class.






REGLAS ORTOGRÁFICAS
Hemosdicho que cuando el adjetivo es corto, añadimos –ER para formar el
comparativo y –EST para formar el superlativo, pero hay algunos adjetivos que sufren cambios:
a. Si el adjetivo acaba en –E sóloponemos –R para el comparativo y –ST para el superlativo.
NICE (simpático): Nicer (más simpático)// the nicest (el más simpático)
b. Si el adjetivo acaba en –y, esta cambia a –i + er//+est
HAPPY (feliz):Happier (más feliz) // the happiest (el más feliz)
c. Adjetivo monosílabo: sólo tiene una sola vocal y acaba en una sola consonante, esa consonante dobla al poner –ER o –EST.
FAT (gordo): fatter (másgordo)//the fattest (el más gordo)
