1.1 INTRODUCTION
Connector is an Irish social media business which specialises in events,
training & consultancy. The idea behind Connector is to help people,
communities and brands to connect online and offline.
Connector was founded in May 2008 by Conor Lynch. It started as a social
blog and it evolved into a monthly networking event. Since then it has
engaged with over 2000 people through several online platforms such as
Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Connector started as a hobby for its founder. The company was run by
Conor Lynch in his spare time with a group of professionals, students,
graduates in voluntary roles who believed in theproject and wanted to get
involved. It was only at the end of 2009 that Connector got full-time staff
to develop and manage all its activities. Hence there are no previous
business plans, marketing plans, sales figures or internal reports about
Connector’s activity.

1.2 CONNECTOR ACTIVITIES:
Connector splits its activities into online and offline. The offline activities
are thetraining courses and the monthly social networking events.
The online part covers a wide range of social media tools and platforms in
which Connector has a strong presence.
Connector training:
Connector has developed its own consultative training programme.
Prospective clients get a consultation to evaluate their strengths, needs
and lacks in online communication before they enroll aspecific training
course. That way specific and individual goals and needs are established
beforehand, which allows a more efficient process. Up to now, the courses
have been run only in Dublin.
Connector events:
Since August 2008, social networking events have been organised
uninterruptedly every month, and are totally free of charge. At the
beginning, the attendance at these events were youngprofessionals, in the
25-35 age group. However, within the time Connector has grown
organically, and the profile of the attendance is now based in a
psychographic segment: interested in Social Media.
