OSO PANDA
The "giant panda" is a mammal and, although there has been much controversy, recent studies encompass their DNA as a member of the family of bears, the spectacled bearbeing its closest relative. A native of central China, the giant panda lives in mountainous regions like Sichuan and Tibet, to a height of 3500 meters.
Is critically endangered, thespecies is highly localized. With 1600 living in the jungles and 188 in captivity (statistics 2004 - 2005), reports show that the number of pandas living in the wild is increasing. Thegiant panda is the symbol of WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature Protection) since 1961.
The panda's main food is bamboo, but also feeds on rodents and other small mammals. It is a goodclimber, but are seldom seen on the trees. It adapts to captivity and thanks to his coat easily withstands winter conditions of their habitat.

El principal alimento del panda es el bambú, aunque también se alimenta de roedores y otros pequeñosmamíferos. Es un buen trepador, aunque rara vez se le ve en los árboles. Se adapta a la cautividad y gracias a su pelaje soporta fácilmente las condiciones invernales de su hábitat.
