Contemporary art
Good afternoon, my name is Paula Valdes and today I will be talking to you about contemporary art. How it can express things in our lives that can’t be expressed with just words.Art is the product or process of deliberately arranging items (often with symbolic significance) in a way that influences and affects senses, emotions, and intellect. It encompasses a diverse rangeof human activities, creations, and modes of expression, like music, literature, paintings, photography, films, sculptures… and now a days we can see some pieces that include lighting installations,sound installations among many others.
Art is one of the most important ways of communication.
Since prehistory, we can see how troglodytes expressed themselves in many ways: with musicalinstruments, the first types of languages, etc. They would also represent their important activities with drawings on stone walls, with graphic art. This was a way to express a full complex picture, which mosttimes can’t be fully descripted with noises.
In ancient times, man would express and sculpt the ideal model of men and women, in medieval times man would expressed their love and admiration toGod…and so it goes on and on. We can see throughout history how men kind is continuously looking for graphic ways of expressing themselves, what they need, feel, think, believe, see or are living.
We nowart, we live with art around us. We have art in our living rooms, in our clothes. We learn about it in school, we take “artistic pictures” to load up on facebook and we are always looking for things tolook aesthetically fine.
We learn about art in school, we can perfectly differentiate between a Van Gogh or a Monet. But its art right now I’m talking about the kind of art that represents us, we, oursociety.
But, why am I talking about art? Because art represents things that we are not capable of
expressing with just words.
But I get it, contemporary art is sometimes is really hard to...
