The Geneva Conventions are an attempt tonormalize the international humanitarian law. They are the result of the efforts of Jean Henri Dunant, founder of the Red Cross. They consist of a series of international treaties signed in Geneva,Switzerland, between 1864 and 1949 in order to minimize the effects of war on soldiers and civilians.
