It is the absence of all color and the union of all colors. It symbolizes purity.
SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING AND SOMETHING BLUE USED
Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. This custom is entirely symbolic and its interpretation has not changed over time. The old symbolizes the bride's connection with its past. It symbolizes new hopes tostart a new happy life. I borrowed symbolizes friendship and the blue symbolizes fidelity.
WEDDING RINGS
Traditional symbol of the unlimited (eternity). The rite of marriage rings was taken from the pagan ceremony among the Romans. In Toledo ritural two rings were used in Roman and only one. Refers to fidelity.
DELIVERY OF THE BRIDE
In antiquity, the daughters were considered "property"of their parents. When it came time to marry the daughter if her father approved of, he in effect transferred the possession of his daughter's boyfriend. Today the act of delivering the bride to the groom at the altar, symbolizing the blessing of his parents marriage.
HONEYMOON
In ancient times, were the Teutons who started the practice of the honeymoon. The Marriage of the Teutons only heldunder the full moon and after the wedding, the newlyweds drank honey liquor for 30 days. Finally, the period immediately following the wedding came to be known as the Honeymoon. While the name survived, the purpose of the honeymoon changed, and after the wedding, the couple left their family and friends to do what they have to do the newlyweds. Today the tradition survives even incorporates theconcept of 15 days of vacation in a secluded and romantic place.
THROWING RICE
Modern custom, imported from Asia and no tradition in the West. Rice is considered a symbol of fertility. At the wedding guests throw rice at the bride and groom with the hope that the couple will have many children.
WEDDING CAKE OR WEDDING CAKE
The tradition of the wedding cake began in ancient Rome as anunusual practice. After the wedding would break bread over the bride's head to symbolize fertility and long life. Guests crumbs considered good luck falls contributed so the soil collected and ate. This tradition evolved and came to England in the Middle Ages, where wedding guests would bring small cakes and pile up. The bride and groom kissed the cakes, then I added a layer of icing sugar and weredistributed to the guests. Wedding cakes today, owe their multilayered aspect to this practice.
THROWING THE BOUQUET (BUQUET) BRIDE AND THE LEAGUE
In fourteenth-century France, there was a custom by which the league was considered the bride brought good luck. The guests ran behind the bride and took away the league as they could, so to avoid this practice so rude, brides began throwing theleague voluntarily. Throughout the time the flowers were added as part of the custom of throwing objects. Today, the custom has been divided for the "bouquet" is released to the guests and the league is unmarried throws unmarried guests alike.
THE VEIL OF THE BRIDE
Originally symbolized the withdrawal of external life, virginity, modesty, innocence and virtue of the bride. Over the years thissymbol has been lost, but still takes the veil. In some Eastern cultures the veil had to completely hide the bride's face with a boyfriend who had never seen. Only after the ceremony the groom was allowed to lift the veil to see the face of his new wife.
CROSSING THE THRESHOLD OF THE DOOR IN ARMS
A few generations ago it was considered proper for the new bride show willingly surrendering tothe boyfriend, and husband often had to carry her up the bride across the threshold of the nuptial bedroom door, to motivate her to enter.
DOWRY
Payment had to do the bride's family to come to the wedding, a custom still deeply rooted in the Indica and other Eastern cultures
