14. Commentary paragraph: what do you think about this documentary? Do you agree or disagree with its basic premises? Do you find it a fair critiqueof the corporation?
Since the industrial revolution many companies started to benefit themselves by creating necessities in the consumers. While the time was passing, they were learning very wellthe behavior of their clients and how to make them dependent to different products, that’s why they keep people on their pockets, but have individuals realized the damage and consequences around? Aconsumer society has made the corporations to look for more and more profit every day, no matter what they should do such as chemicals to increase crops, alterations in food and animals, and unhealthycomponents in products. These companies became monsters that do not care about society, environment or even their own workers. Many people are unaware of what is behind the product they consume;practices or methods like labor exploitation in poor countries such as China, Bangladesh, or El Salvador, where the workers are paid with pennies; or global environmental pollution all around the world. Thisdocumentary is a harsh but fair critique to make people see how corporations were and continue taking advantage of the resources they have at their disposal to satisfy their hunger of power and money.Lately some enterprises are practicing corporate social responsibility to return back to the society what they have taken form it, in this case in the video there is an example from Pfizer, theyinstalled on the neighbor where their enterprise is, a security system on the subway station to reduce crimes and make that a better community, but they do this because this “expenses” help them toavoid taxes and reduce utilities, otherwise they would give that money to the community in order to invest in what they really need. This documentary make people realize about how our planet is going...
