No one really knows for sure if Christopher Columbus was Jewish, God only knows. There are various opinions orassumptions of his true origin but what I will support in this essay is that Christopher Columbus was Jewish. There are several proofs and found data on which we can say that his origin was Jewish.It was said that he was a Catholic, but in reality he hide his true religion for fear that he can be killed because all the controversies of the time. There was found in the letters that were sent tohis children, lots of details and words that can be key to say he was Jew and to support his true origin. Something very important that is central to the whole story of Christopher Columbus is the realreason for the trip that he undertook.
In 1492 a law was made by the Catholic kings. Which was about to expel all the Jews from Spain, because if not they had to become to Catholicism, or they hadto leave the country and all their properties or death by fire. 120.000 Jews migrate, especially to Portugal. Columbus had to become a catholic but secretly he was a Jew. Also he had to hide hisreligion because he needed financing from the queen but if he was a Jew he would have not had the possibility of that. So this is a big proof that he was a Jew but he had to hide it to protect him and tobe able to undertake the journey he was planning.
According to historians, there were 12 letters to his son that were in Hebrew, with numbers in Hebrew and also when he said goodbye he refer to aJewish blessing. But only the letters that were sent to his son were that way, the ones to the kings and the others hide completely the reality of him.
