ABSTRACT

The purpose of this experiment is to determine which of the following exercises: running, walking, jumping, swimming, or bikingaccelerates the heart rate of an adult female and male the most. The hypothesis said that swimming would accelerate the heart more than the other fourexercises. To determine this heart rate (HR), each adult was measured by taking the pulse of the radial artery on the wrist during one minute, before and aftereach exercise. Each day we performed only one exercise, at the same time -5:00 pm- and for 5 minutes. These exercises were executed by two healthy adultswith the same age and physical training, so as that the results would make sense and have a point of comparison.
The results werethat after running, the male’s HR increased 89 beats x’, while the female’s was 56 beats x’. Walking made the male’s HR improved 12 beats x’ and the female’s4 beats x’. Jumping enhanced the male’s HR 42 beats x’ and the female’s 46 beats x’. Bike riding increased the male’s HR 16 beats x’ and the female’s 22beats x’. Finally, swimming improved the male’s HR 44 beats x’ and the female’s HR 32 beats x’.
I concluded that the exercise thataccelerates the heart rate the most is running. This statement was supported by the results of the experiment and researches done in the Internet. After allthe information gathered, I must say that my hypothesis was not supported. Swimming is not the exercise that accelerates the heart rate the most.
