Withdraw an Abortion is an Awareness of Life
Abortion is understood as the procedure toending the pregnancy or gestation; it consists in remove or expel the fetus or embryo outside the uterus causing its dead. According with Medicine and Health Organization (MHO) more than 30% of allwomen will finish a pregnancy by abortion, it could be natural or induced, at any time in their reproductive lives (2008). MHO statistics show that whilst women of every social class try to find a happyending for their pregnancy, the woman who decides to end her pregnancy is either young, unmarried, poor, or over the age of 40. More than half of women who consider abortion as an option, decide notto do it. It shows that abortion is not the unique alternative and women have more options. This essay will deal with the arguments against and in favor of abortion, considering health, psychologicaland a different alternative.
First, supporters of abortion argue that medical abortion is a safe procedure. Thus according with MHO, abortion is a safe procedure for the mother that is pregnant andinfections are less than one percent when the abortion is performed by a professional. On the other hand Herm (2010) argues that approximately 10% of women that chose abortion suffer medicalcomplications such as perforation of the uterus, excessive bleeding, infection, cervical injury, also after an abortion 24% of women experience complication with a new pregnancy.
SecondPro-abortion researchers such as Russo (2010) realized a study about the psychological effects caused by an abortion and it found that it has no negative impact in the psychological health. Also it showsthat abortion is associated with higher self-esteem. However McGovern (2008) argues that more than 50% of women that had an abortion experience feelings such as depression, guilt, regret, nervousness...
