Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most fascinating figures of theRenaissance because he penetrated in field as aerodynamics, hydraulics, anatomy, botany, painting and architecture. He is also one of the creator has result in a greater number of myths about his person.His scientific research were neglected and undervalued by his contemporaries, while his work as a painter saw in him a teacher, who develop and get to shape the beauty of Renaissance.
Renaissance isthe revitalization movement occurred in the Western Europe (principally Italy) between XV and XVI centuries. Renaissance symbolizes the revival of knowledge and progress over the centuries of freezingin the Middle Ages. The Renaissance was the Age of discoveries and achievements overseas. This “Age” marks the beginning of global expansion of European Culture, with the Portuguese voyages and theDiscovery of America. The Renaissance began in Italy in the XVI Century and spread throughout the rest of Europe during the XV and XVI Centuries (Bibliotecas Publicas 2011). In this period, the feudalsociety characterized by agricultural economy and culture life dominated by church, was transformed into a society dominated by centralized political institutions with development of education, artsand music. The artist was drawn to the knowledge and began to study models of antiquity while investigating ways of representing the perspective and the natural world especially human anatomy. Theparadigm of this new attitude was Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo di Ser Piero da Vinci was born April 15, 1452 in Anchiano and died on May 2, 1519 (The Columbia Encyclopedia, 2011). Da Vinci received thebest education in Florence, Italy. When he was 15 years old his father sent him to Andrea Del Verrocchio workshop as an apprentice.
