Daniel Alcides Carrion

Daniel alcides carrion is condiderado a hero national for having sacrificed his life by seeking a benefit to humanity without thinking about whether own itself but in its neighbor.
Born in Hill ofpasco on August 13, 1853
He was a student of medicine at the Peru (Cerro de Pasco), considered a martyr of Latin American for their sacrifice medicine infected with the bacterium Bartonellabacilliformis and contract now known as disease verruga peruana, by way of studying their development and evolution in the infected or carrion.
• Son of the doctor and Ecuadorian lawyer Baltasar Carrión andtowers and Dolores García Navarro.1
• He made his primary studies in the municipal school of Cerro de Pasco. The accidental death of his father left him orphaned at the age of 8, so it had to continuehis studies in the city of Tarma in the care of a relative of his mother.
• At the age of 14 moved to the city of Lima and entered the Guadalupe school, where from 1873 to 1878 he studied secondaryeducation and media with excellent qualifications. Once reached the title of Bachelor, he matriculated in 1878, in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of San Marcos, to pursue medical studies,which would perform with notable success.
• During his medical studies, felt deep concern about two features of some diseases Peruvian central valleys: one of them, known as the "Fever of la Oroya",characterized by fever and progressive anemia which, despite the treatment that was carried out at that time, had a nearly 100% lethality.
• Another process called "Verruga peruana", had equalgeographical distribution, but benign evolution; with the sudden appearance of cutaneous nodules and scarce general symptoms. Until then considered that both tables had different etiology.
