Nutrition for athletes

People who do a lot of sports usually want to have a good diet. Sometimes people think that to have a good diet, we need to eat only vegetables and meat. This is not exactly correct. The base of an excellent diet, especially for an athlete, is carbohydrate. Foods like potatoes, pasta and rice containcarbohydrates, and these foods give us energy and vitamins. Some people also think it is bad to eat fat or sugar. These foods are bad in large quantities, but we need some fat and sugar for energy. Of course, a good diet also contains a lot of vegetables, meat and fish. Vegetables give us vitamins, and meat and fish give us protein. The secret to a good diet is the correct balance – some fat and sugar and alot of vitamins, minerals and protein.
