Joel Thomas Zimmerman, better known by his stage name deadmau5 (pronounced dead mouse), is a Canadian Progressive House, Electro House, andHouse producer based in Toronto. He was born in January 5th, 1981 in Ontario, Canada.
His first album it's called Circa 1998 - 2004 and his latestalbum it's called 4x4=12. On May 1st, 2008, deadmau5 became the most awarded DJ/producer of the Beatport Music Awards. He was named "Best ProgressiveHouse Artist" by Beatport. In 2009, Beatport also awarded deadmau5 the most awards that year, winning first place in both of his nominations, as wellas being given the "Greatest House DJ Ever" award, two years in a row. In June 2010, Beatport announced the winners of their annual Beatport MusicAwards, awarding deadmau5 Best Electro House Artist, Best Progressive House Artist, and "most influential, relevant and forward-thinking person inelectronic music over the past 12 months".
He has been nominated several times at the Grammy's awards, and at the International Dance Music Awards, winning4 of 6 nominations.
Actually, he is the 3th best DJ in the world, just behind David Guetta and Tiësto in the 1st and 2nd place and after Armin VanBuuren, Daft Punk and Paul Van Dyk in the 4th, 5th and 6th place.
One of the things that distinguish him from other DJ's is the big mouse head that healways wears in his concerts. In every tour he does he changes the design of his mouse head, and at his album covers he uses the head as logo.
