Daniel was the epitome of that young rebel careless student, who will more likely go against the stated rules. Theauthor, Fran Ilich, urges readers to revolt against the standard way of living: that one should revolt against the corrupted government, against the media and its prefabricated androgynous singers, but assoon as he describes the reality of the rotten society values, the claim turns pessimistic. The text evolves from being immature and fictional to an admiring pessimism. The way he hates to “becomeanother number more of society” helps readers understand the condition of the world. That how humans develop such a perfect environment set of rules and steps for the rest to follow but at the same timehow humans ludicrously eschew those “moral values”. Therefore what is the purpose of guiding a civilization if few (if not none) will follow?
