Good morning/afternoon. I am SARA and I am going to present a Didactic Programme for year 3 of Primary Education, that is to say, the first year of the 2nd cycle of P.Ed. After I present my Didactic Programme, I will develop Unit number … of my Programme, which bears the title ……
First of all, I would like to or reflect on WHY it is important for us, teachers, tohave a didactic programme. There are two reasons for this:
The first reason has to do with the fact that our Education System establishes an open and flexible curriculum which must be adapted to the particular needs of students through three different levels of concretion:
The first level refers to the official curriculum established in Decree 40/ 2007 3rd May for Madrid Community, whichcontains the general objectives, contents and evaluation or assessment criteria.
The second level is the Curricular Project of the school.
And finally, in the third level of curricular development, each teacher should design his/her teaching planning as well as a set of didactic units, taking into account the decisions made by the teaching staff in the Curricular Project.
The other reason isa PRACTICAL one. As teachers, we need to establish (Write the list on the blackboard):
What OBJECTIVES we want our students to reach.
What CONTENTS we are going to teach.
How we are going to teach: METHODOLOGY –including materials and use of ICT,
How we are going to assess our students’ progress: ASSESSMENT.
In addition, we need to plan and establish how we are going to deal withdiversity and specific education needs students.
But before I go into all these details of my Didactic Programme, I would like to say a few words on the theoretical aspects, crucial to elaborate this didactic Programme.
We will consider the four habitual sources of the curriculum:
The legal source. Our current educational law is LOE, Ley Orgánica de educación. This law was implementedgradually and according to the calendar established in Royal Decree 806/2006. This source will help us to answer the question:
“ What to teach? The Objectives.
The psychological source will help us to adapt the didactic programme to students´ needs and cognitive processes. This source will help us to answer the question :
WHEN TO TEACH ( Sequence of the didactic units): the CONTENTS.
Thepedagogical source will be very useful to answer the question:
HOW TO TEACH? METHODOLOGY
Finally, the sociological source the characteristics of the context of the school, where this DP will be applied, it is described in the CP or school educational Project. This source will be useful to revise all the answers given above on What, how, when to teach. As I said before the curriculum is open andFlexible and it should be adapted to the school.
SCHOOL AND THE CLASS
Next, I would like to say a few words about the school and the class. Of course, I don’t know where I will be teaching next year. So both the school and the class are “hypothetical” , but I will try to make them realistic and I will also draw on my own experience as a teacher.
In any case, our planning should be:Adapted to the context and pupil’s needs
Flexible, which implies that we must be ready to change any of its elements if we feel that they are not appropriate for a particular group of students.
The school I have in mind is located in Salamanca, in a heavily-populated district of the capital of the province and as such has a wide range of students, who differ in several aspects. The total numberof students is approximately 400. Most students live in the neighbourhood and normally walk to school.
The families are middle class, 20% are immigrant families, mostly from South America and Eastern Europe.is quite new, it has basic facilities: playground, a library, ICT room with 12 computers connected to internet, a cafeteria, an english laboratory room and the gym.
The average number of...
