Specific Purpose: My audience will be able to make their own Playdoh( from scratch.
Introduction
I. Attention Getter: I’m sure thateveryone here in Comm. 1200 has played with Playdoh( at some point in your lifetime, most likely during your childhood. It is fun, gooey, and sometimes tempting to eat. You can also use it to entertaina younger sibling or kid you are babysitting. Or perhaps, you are just bored and want to use it as a stress ball. Don’t have the time or money to run to the store to buy some?
II. Central Idea:Don’t fret because today, I am going to show you how to make your own Playdoh( from scratch. First, I will explain the ingredients needed to create your masterpiece. Second, I will go through thesteps to making your Playdoh(. Ultimately, I will cover multiple activities that may involve your very own Playdoh(.
Body
I. Growing up, my mom taught me how to make Playdoh( and she used four mainingredients.
A. They include all purpose flour, salt, oil, and water.
B. An optional can of tartar may be added for increased elasticity.
C. You may add food coloring, scented oils, or evenKool-aid will make it smell better.
II. The steps to making Playdoh( are pretty basic so it is a great activity for kids.
A. The first step is to mix the dry ingredients plus the oil.
B.Next you place the mixture and add the water to be heated for 5-8 minutes or until the mixture gravitates towards the middle of the pot.
C. Last you remove the dough from the pot, knead until smooth,and place in the refrigerator to cool.
III. There are different activities people use Playdoh( for.
A. Anyone can play with it, creating different objects and decorations such as letters of aname.
B. Besides using Playdoh( for entertainment it can also be used as a way of participant observation for young children.
