Natural Phenomena


A natural phenomenon is a change of nature that happens by itself without direct human intervention. Those movements permanent processes and transformations that nature. Theycan influence human life (epidemics, weather conditions, natural disasters, etc.).

In common parlance, natural phenomenon appears almost as a synonym for unusual event, surprising or under thedisastrous human perspective. However, the formation of a raindrop is a natural phenomenon in the same way that a hurricane. This term also refers generally to the dangerous natural phenomena also called"natural disasters". Rain, for example, is not in itself a "disaster", but can be well depending on human perspective, if certain conditions are met. Poor urban planning, with the construction ofstructures in areas vulnerable to flooding or others can cause disastrous effects on humans.

It should be noted that human actions (a moving car, for example) are always subject to natural laws,however, are not considered in this sense, natural phenomena, as they depend on the will of humans.
Natural disasters


Disasters are not natural, are natural phenomena. Disasters always presented by theaction of man in his environment. For example, a hurricane in the middle of the ocean is not a disaster.

Natural phenomena such as rain, earthquakes, hurricanes or wind, they become disasters whenthey exceed a limit of normal (threshold, in English), usually measured by a parameter. This varies depending on the type of phenomenon (Richter scale for earthquakes, Saphir-Simpson scale forhurricanes, etc..).

The term disaster refers to the enormous human and material losses caused by events or phenomena such as earthquakes, floods, landslides, deforestation, pollution and others.Disasters are caused by human activities that alter normal environment.
