A) Which were, in your opinion, the reasons why this document was disclosed precisely at this moment?

The institution of the Real House has always created controversy, from its return, when Franco aimed at the family of the Borbones like the new Royal Family, and more exactly to Juan Carlos, the son of the Count of Barcelona, like new King for when Franco died. To me, it seems that ther are afew reasons by which the Real House has published its annual budget, although one of them is more determining than the others. Leaving this last reason for the end, the other facts that caused that The Crown also revealed this content are important.

In order to begin, The Crown have lost its prestige in the last years for a part of the people because most of this people thinks that the rolethat has the Royal Family no longer is essential in the Spanish society, because it is a representative institution and it does not have voice nor vote in the political questions, because perhaps without her we would save what we spent in her then etc… a small part of the population wants to leave aside the royalty and to become Republic again.

On the other hand, lately part of the society andpolitical parties have requested clarity and transparency as far as the pantries that the Real House does and as far as their patrimony. One of these political parties was IU (Izquierda Unida) that public in the social network Actuable a request asking directly to the Congress of the Deputies by the publication of the budget destined the Royal Family. In fact they made mention to article 65 of theConstitution to say that the Real House has the right to have its annual dowry of free way, but in no side it puts that of opaque way. In addition, the times have changed and the country has been modernized in a way in which people are more informed and into no censured form, then all type of opinions inall the mass media that affect the society, including the Crown reacts to any reaction expressing. From this point the Crown has had to adapt to these new times, and to publish its annual budget is a form to do it. The previous reasons I believe that they made a great pressure in the Real House because it is the institution that represents us and has to be respected by all the people, although Ithink that they were not determinants.

The main reason by which the Royal Family made the amount public of money which they received every year of the state was the scandal of corruption carried out by the son-in-law of the King, Iñaki Urdangarín, the Duke of Palm.
In November of 2011, Iñaki Urdangarin and its partners were surrounded in a case of corruption, the Babel case. The 10 of Novemberof 2011 all mass media became echo of the possible imputation by deviation of public money from the Nóos Institute, which the Duke of Palm presided over. This caused a great commotion in all the country, and especially in the Real House. By means of a press official notice, the Zarzuela separated Iñaki Urdangarín from all the official acts because they considered that its behavior was not`exemplary' for the Real House. This situation, in certain way, affected Corona because Iñaki Urdangarín is part of the family and for people it was difficult to think that nobody except him of the Royal Family was surrounded in this and still more it was difficult to trust his innocence. Since then, this question became not only a problem for the Duke, but for the Crown and its reputation. This scandalcreated one atmosphere of distrust and doubts in the country, people wanted answers of the Real House, clarifying the situation and calming to all those that attacked them.
