Abstract

Years of experience and the continuing growing in technologies and customer service are features that
over the past decades have identified the name of Deutsche Lufthansa AG not only in Europe but over
the World, becoming one of the largest, internationally operating corporations in the civil aviation
business. It comprises different businesssegments but all working together as Lufthansa Group. These
fields are Passenger Airlines, Logistics, Maintenance Repair Overhaul, IT Services and Catering. A
further 400 subsidiaries and company investments worldwide belong to the aviation Group. Lufthansa
Group is committed to create added value for their customers, employees and investors and to meeting
responsibilities to the environmentand society. Always looking for the future issues Lufthansa is well
positioned strategically, operationally and financially to negotiate ups-and-downs in the economy.

History of Deutsche Lufthansa
Deutsche Lufthansa is a German air company considered since 2009 as the biggest airline in
Europe. They have about a century of history, this history can bedivided into two parts the “Old”
Lufthansa and the “New” Lufthansa
The “Old” Lufthansa:
In the beginning of the 1920s, right after the war a number of small airlines had sprung up in
Germany, these airlines had a lot of difficulties: their airplanes made inexact trips following rail lines,
flight operations were just during the day, pilots didn’t have radio contact with the ground yet, thereweren’t facilities, etc. Only two airlines survived for the subsidies-paying German state: Deutscher Aero
Llyod and Junkers Luftverkehr
The history of Lufthansa began on January 6, 1926 when a small airline called Deutsche Luft
Hansa AG was formed in Berlin because Deutscher Aero Llyod and Junkers Luftverkehr merged. Luft
Hansa was a government-run private monopoly. By May 1926, Luft Hansaserved 57 domestic and 15
international airports.
By the 1930s pilots started being able to fly by instrument alone, therefore Lufthansa started
flying longer distances and also the company opened an airmail service between Stuttgart and Buenos
Aires as an instrument of diplomacy and commerce. With the help of Lufthansa, Iberia was born in
Spain and in 1931 Lufthansa with the Chinese governmentcreated the Eurasian corporation
Lufthansa flew to numerous destinations around the world, including Beijing, New York, Cairo,
Bangkok, and Tokyo. Regarded as an instrument of the state, Lufthansa increasingly came under the
control of the ruling Nazi Party. Lufthansa began service to destinations in the Soviet Union during
1940. Luftwaffe assumed control of Lufthansa’s airplanes and convertedmany of them for military use.
As the war continued, many Lufthansa employees were drafted into military service in support of the

The main source of Lufthansa doesn’t show about all the routes it had. Only show the neutral
countries. It’s knownabout the controversial past but the company often falls into a senseless of
responsibility
“All Lufthansa documents, including the annual report, were stamped “Secret!” Despite all the
difficulties, it was business as usual.” (Lufthansa group,History)
As other 6500 German companies Lufthansa helped to finance the Foundation “Remembrance,
Responsibility and Future” (EVZ) that paid 4,400million of Euros of compensation for more than 1, 6
millions of forced workers during the Nazism.
The “New” Lufthansa

Although having no legal connection to the previous entity with the rise of post war it was a
