Two of the most important celebrations of Mexico carried out in the month of November. According to the Catholic calendar, the first day is dedicated to all saints and and the second day souls. Inthese two dates carried out rituals to worship the ancestors.
It is the time in which the souls of dead relatives return home to live with the family and to nourish the essence of food offered to themin the household altars.
The celebration of the day of the dead, as it is known popularly, is practiced all over Mexico. It involves both indigenous and mestizo, urban and peasant groups.According to the belief of the people, the first day of November is dedicated to the "young dead", i.e., to those who died as children; day two, to the deceased in adulthood. In some parts of the country on28 October corresponds to the people who died because of an accident. On the other hand, the 30th of the same month is expected the arrival of the souls of "limbo" or children who died without havingreceived baptism.
Day of the dead ritual involves an enormous popular significance, the celebration includes many different aspects, from the philosophical to the materials.
The celebration ofall saints and souls, has been mixed with the commemoration of the day of the dead Indians celebrate since pre-Hispanic times. The ancient Mexicans or Aztecs, Mixteca, texcocanos, Zapotec, Tlaxcala,totonac and other peoples of our country, moved the veneration of their dead to the Christian calendar.
