A Tough Lesson
In my first year of college, I learned a valuable lesson and had to come about losing someone I really love. This memoryaffected me in a big way maybe changing even my personality. I remember this time every moment I think of her and how fast all this happened.
It was on 2010, when I moved to my country Peru to startcollege over there. I went back to my hometown because I wanted to continue living with my grandmother, who was the one who raised me since I was a kid and the one who took charge of me when my mom cameto live to United States. We were having such a good lifestyle, we made each other company and I wasn’t feeling sad anymore for the idea that she was living alone in another country far from me.After ten months of living together, one day she decided to go to the hospital because of a really bad pain in the neck. The doctor told her that he wanted to make her a biopsy. After some weeks, thedoctor said that my grandmother had breast cancer and that she needed to do four chemotherapies before a surgery.
On February 2012, my grandmother started with her first chemotherapy, even that someof us in the family were not agree, she decided to do it. On March, she was in her second chemotherapy, just two more chemotherapies and she will be ready for surgery, but she was weaker as thechemotherapies go by. She started to lose weight, lose hair, feeling pain, throwing up, etc.
I remember in March 29th, 2012 when I was giving a speech in my politics class at college talking about asituation that is affecting my life and I chose her illness to talk about. That same day she was going to her third chemotherapy and I was talking in front of a class saying that I pray to god to find herat home every time I go back from college, but it was difficult to go back home and find her without any energy, without any words to say, seeing how the breast cancer was taking my grandmother’s...
