Orson Wells, an American filmmaker, had a popular radio program that was to bring theater and literature in this way. But what brought him tofame and deceive half the world was the adaptation of the fictional novel "The War of the Worlds" by HG Wells
On October 30, 1938, at the start of the program said they wouldhear a dramatization of a work, he immediately gave the microphone to Orson Welles who began with the following words:
“Ladies and gentlemen, we present the latestnewsletter from Intercontinental Radio News. From Toronto, Professor Morse of McGill University reports that it has seen a total of three explosions on the planet Mars between 7:45P.M. and 9:20 p.m”
Anyone who had not heard the announcement, he thought it was a true report. Below is narrated in the form of news as they had fallen meteorites, alsomet some astronomers who had just seen some strange explosions on Mars. Then a reporter interviewed an astronomer, he said he could not explain what was happening.
Itlooked like a meteor falling from the sky in New Jersey, but it was a huge cylindrical object. Many people gathered to watch until the device is opened and left monstrouscreatures. He heard screams, just the reporter could speak
How do people react? This dramatization caused great panic in the streets of New York and New Jersey, where he allegedlyhad given reports. The police station and newsroom were blocked by calls from listeners terrified and desperate trying to protect against gas attacks fictional Martians.The program lasted one hour. The first forty minutes on fake newscast ranked ended when CBS journalist died of Martian gases, the other death was described as the invaders.
