We, the people of Switzerland we issued an official statement, addressed to the members present at theconference on disarmament worldwide.
Knowing the precarious global situation regarding this issue, we, the present delegates intervene in the following words:
After an exhausted an analysis on global armedconflict we have deduced that the idea of disarmament and non-proliferation is the best route to the road to world peace.
To achieve that objective is necessary that all countries initiate disarmamentplans in their nations.
The nation of Switzerland has been developing a project for disarmament international together with the United Nations. But we are very concerned about the poorimplementation of nuclear disarmament treaties.
The disarmament treaty that we promote is the non-proliferation treaty and some countries haven't joined yet, like India, Pakistan and Israel. And the fivepermanent members of the UN Security Council are all nuclear powers: Russia, China, Britain, France and the US. India, Pakistan and Israel also have nuclear arms. North Korea has tested a warhead, and Iran(member of the treaty) is suspected of wanting to develop atomic weapons
Also worth mentioning is that this treaty not only looks small arms disarmament but also of nuclear, chemical and biologicalwhich could spark World War III.
As Arthur Henderson said: ‘The Disarmament Conference has become the focal point of a great struggle between anarchy and world order, between those who think in terms ofinevitable armed conflict and those who seek to build a universal and durable peace.’
We have to remember that nuclear disarmament is not only a necessary and fundamental to human beings, asexpressed in numerous UN resolutions. It is also a legal commitment of the five official nuclear states, agreed to sign the Non-Proliferation Treatment.
