Under The Radar with a Megaphone
I enjoy standing out in the crowd in very subtle ways that aren’t easily recognized but sometimes cause a large Commotion. It’s a very contradictory life-style, but it’s the best I can manage. It’s very hypocritical of my anti-social behavior, especially when I cause some sort of spectacle that people can’t understand so they haveto take second or third look, like when I had a 1½ ft Mohawk. There was no reason behind this, I just wanted to have one for the sake of having one, but besides that, there really was no point behind it. I’ve done several bizarre stunts such as this throughout my life, so allow me to go through my child hood, showing off possible reasons for this behavior and some of the things I do because of it.My first odd incident, taking place when I was only a year and a half, led to my earliest trip to the hospital for nearly committing suicide. Now mind you, this wasn’t entirely on purpose, as at such a young age I didn’t realize the viscous liquid I had drunken was in fact- lamp oil, it was merely curiosity with some near fatal side effects. There were no permanent side effects thankfully, onlya case of stomach poisoning and related illness’ to doing so. It might be aside from the point, but my favorite part of the story now that I can reflect back on it, is the fact that

the doctors and staff actually didn’t do anything to me when I had gone to the hospital beside laying me on a bed and watching me fight my way through it alone. I know it was for the best, after all, if theyhad pumped my stomach of the oil, I would’ve been poisoned all over again and surely die, so I thank them for not taking action.
After that incident, I Grew up as any ordinary child would. My father went overseas to police a military area. He’s an MP (military policeman) and was often overseas for the majority of my adolescent childhood, a possible reasoning of why I turned out the way I did,but he still came home every few months before being shipped off again. Thankfully He’s always came home in one piece and now that his minimum service time is spent, he’s retired and lives here in the states permanently. Now that I’m older it’s easier to bond with him and have, what some would call a “normal” life, his absence has left me slightly different than most other children I grew up with. It’s nothing drastic, but instead of learning to play sports as most kids would, a majority of my time was spent drawing and being with my older brother, whom I’m very close with and would consider my best friend if he weren’t already related to me. Also, not having him there did in ways make me stubborn in learning physical activities such as swimming, which I still haven’t figured out yet, andalmost shamefully, learning to ride a bike. I learned eventually how to, on my own- but I was about 14 or so when I did. Nothing that I’m proud of, but I figured it out on my own, so I’m proud of that at least.
It was during these long periods of time that I discovered my artistic knack. As stated earlier, I spent most of my time drawing instead of being physically active, which I was at times butregardless, I knew I had a talent and I enjoyed it. But where it all began wasn’t in my house

when the others were outside playing, it was in the first grade while my dad was over in Bosnia. The school had made it an assignment of sorts to send the troops drawings and cards to lift their spirits. Most of these cards involved pictures of houses and families being brought together, orrainbows, flowers, and real pretty things often titled “come home soon” or “we miss you” or similar warm-hearted phrases. The picture I sent my father was, simply put, drastically different. There was nothing pretty or cutesy about it, it was well drawn for a first grader, but it’s nothing you would expect to see from a 6yr old. But gloating aside, the picture was of Mr. L, whom was a tall, brutish...
