Built-in flash
You will inevitable need to use flash in many situations. As well as getting enough light onto the subject, the use of flash in a creative way to change to atmosphere of a scene. Theflash emits a burst of white light and when used carefully, it can create either dramatically directional or expressively subtle lighting effects. Because many cameras have a flash that automaticallyfires when the available light drops below a certain level, it is easy to think of flash as solely for low-light and nighttime photography.

Fill flash

The flash facility is also an importantaddition to daylight photography. Although it may seem paradoxical—the stronger the light, the more likely the need to use flash. This is because the strong light will cast equally dark shadows. Bysettings your camera to Fill Flash, you will be able to reduce the severity of contrast in the image and effectively fill the dark shadows with additional light.

Flash range and fall off

Most compactcameras automatically switch to flash mode when the ambient light is too low to achieve a good-definition image. In the mid-range cameras, you can choose whether or not to use flash.
