ITALY
Italy is a peninsula in the middle of Europe. The sea surrounds it (Ligure sea, Tirreno sea, Mediterranean sea, Ionic sea and Adriatic sea). It limits with France, Switzerland, Austria andSlovenia. It looks like a big boot.
It has many islands. The biggest ones are Sicily and Sardinia.
In the south there are three volcanoes: Vesuvio, Stromboli and Etna.
The capital is Rome, avery big and interesting city. In it there is the Roman Colisseo, the phanteon, Fontana Di Trevi, and many other historical places.
The Vatican State is in Rome too. It is a country inside a othercountry. In it lives the pope.
The population is 58,057,477.
The religion is predominately Roman Catholic with mature Protestant, Jewish communities and a growing Muslim immigrant community.The typical foods are pasta, pizza, risotto, cheese, roast meat, vegetables, olive oil and vine.
Italy is known all over the world for the “Italian Design”. We see it in:
• the cars: Ferrari,Lancia and Alfa Romeo
• Italian fashion,
• Architecture and
• Art
Every year million of tourist visit Italy. They can find:
• Wonderful beaches,
• Incredible ski centres,
• Interestinghistorical places,
• Attractive art museum and
• Amazing spectacles (opera, theatre and concert)
The tourism in Italy is very important for the economy.
A famoust city of Italy is Venice, itis a very romantic and exotic city. There are no streets. You can transport around the city in a gondola through the canals.
An other famoust city is Florence. It is a very beautiful city. In itthere are many art museums, for example: The Uffizi (the most important picture gallery in the world) and The Galleria Della Accademia (where you can find the David of Michelangelo).
