Half-standing driving with dynamic balance

Interactive balance control
To keep the drivers eyes onthe road and vital controls within the field of vision, we have eliminated manual seat adjustments. Instead, the drivers weight works as the principal control for a perfect personal seat adjustment.Using technology adapted from the popular Nintendo Wii Fit balance board we’ve created an active feedback system based on the drivers balance. With a Heads Up Display (HUD) the driver can see whenhis weight shifts. The tachometer, located within the speedometer, moves accordingly to his body, helping to create a visual aid for balance control. An understanding of correct seating is greatlyimproved in both active and relaxed driving modes.

People conform to technology. Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

While studying truck drivers the need for a half-standing (active) driverposition in urban and construction site environments was uncovered. With balanced seat integration the driver can switch between

the normal and active driving positions. Our tests indicates greatenhancement of the driving experience reducing driver fatigue and improving cognitive ergonomics.

Driver comfort

Truck drivers commonly suffer from injuriessuch as back pain, lower back strain and fatigue. By placing the body in a half-standing position, the spine rests in a more natural state allowing it to better absorb road vibrations. Additionally,this also places legs into a more active position improving blood flow and reducing knee damage. Conclusion: a better driving position keeps the driver healthy and focused!

Material technology

Thein-seat balance ball, filled with shockabsorbing gel, eliminates vibrations while aiding to maintain proper balance. The cushioning system offers exceptional support over long driving periods. Our...
