Should assisted suicide be legal? Against

After Oregon passed it’s assisted suicide law, 67% of the state’s
Physicians said they would refuse to participate in an assistedsuicide- and even those physicians who helped patients terminate their lives said they did so reluctantly. One doctor said, “It was an excruciating thing to do.” Source: “Euthanasia and AssistedSuicide”. We are resolved that assisted suicide and euthanasia should not be legal. My two arguments that I’ll be using today are that taking lives shouldn’t be out of convenience, it should be based onmoral ideas and assisted suicide is inhumane and is immoral.
My first argument is that taking lives shouldn’t be out of convenience; it should be based on moral ideas. In a utopia, the unwanted areslaughtered for the convenience and the benefit of the wanted. Destroying life for the selfish reasons of saving time and money damages our society. Would it not be better to love and care for the sickand elderly? Why hasten death with a physician? Source: “Pros and Cons of Euthanasia”. Those requesting euthanasia often do so because they are depressed, in pain, can’t take care of them selves anddon’t want to burden their families. Providing these people with counseling, adequate pain medication, and hospice, care, they will realize that life is worth living. Source: “Pros and Cons ofEuthanasia”. Even doctors cannot predict firmly about period of death and whether there is a possibility of remission or recovery with other advanced treatments. So, implementing euthanasia would mean manyunlawful deaths that could have well survived later. Source: “Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide”.
My second argument is that assisted suicide is inhumane and is immoral. Human life deserves exceptionalsecurity and protection.
Advanced medical technology has made it possible to enhance human life span and quality of life. Palliative care and rehabilitation centers are better alternatives to help...
