Writing Process Draft: Sunday in the Park

In the short story Sunday in The Park we see two totally different personalities of the mother. The mother is presented at first as a loving and proudwife and mother but throughout the story and the conflicts presented her personality and feeling about her life changes dramatically. At first she's proud of her hardworking husband and happy with herlife and son but at the end she torn into a resentment tone where she seems to be ashamed or angry of her husband for not taking a step into the situation. The mother is suffused throughout the storywith mixed feelings because of the conflict. In the following paragraphs we'll be presenting the different changes the mother went throughout the story and how does this affect the interpretation ofthe story.
When the conflict starts to arise the mother feels tenderness towards her husband when he tries to calm the situation as shown in the quote ‘’a situation so alien and so distasteful tohim’’. This quote shows how distant this situation is for Morton since he is not the kind of person who gets into fights and also the tenderness she feels toward him since he was so fragile.
We suddenly seea change in the mothers attitude when Larry was playing in the playground and Joe, another little child who was playing also in the sandbox, throw sand at him which cause the mother to get mad andverbally told the kid to stop it and be nice. This verbal punish to the other kid was a sign of a first change since the mother has said previously that she wants little Larry to fight his own fights asshown and we quote;"Her first instinct was to rush to her son, brush the sand out of his hair, and punish the other child, but she controlled it. She always said that she wanted Larry to learn tofight his own battles."
The tenderness towards Morton turn sour after Morton and Joe's father argument. Morton back away from the argument and didn't continue to ignite a fight because he knew...
