Organization and structure
There are three levels of school educationin Brazil, with several grades in each level: 1. Fundamental education (mandatory) 2. Middle education (not mandatory) 3. Higher education
1. Fundamental education I and II (mandatory) – 9 years
Age 6-14 – Free 1st - 5th grade – Age 6-10 (Fund. I) 6th – 9th grade – Age 11-14 (Fund II)
2. Middle education (not mandatory) – 3 years
10th-12th grade Age 15-17 – Free
3.Higher education
