Test Item: Multiple-choice.

Objective: This item aims recognition of the structure of grammar utilizing going to and recognition of comparatives.

Approach: This item aims to test Ss recognition of grammar structure to talk about future plans and in some other questions the objective is to identify the correct form of the comparatives used. This item type is objective since there is only oneright answer for every question.

Rationale: we are using a combination of both in some questions that use future plans with comparatives in meaningful context for Ss. This is to give them real world context in which they might be using the language and try to make the exam more interesting for them by engaging them with this content. We were thinking of giving Ss three choices but to make itmore difficult for them to guess answers correctly we gave them four options to lower the rate of guessing and make students think on the answer they will be choosing. The reason for using multiple-choice is that is the easiest to score and very reliable since there is only one possible answer and it doesn’t depend on the teacher’s criteria. Aside from the Ss being familiar with this type of testitem it was picked to make the scoring reliable. The distracters used in the exam are possible mistakes that Ss might make when they speak English after they have been taught how to use the two testing aims.

Test Item: Gap filling

Objective: test Ss knowledge of the function ofsuperlatives.

Approach: the approach to this item is objective. There is only one right answer and all of the possible answers are provided on the word-bank. This test item requires ss to read in order to know what the right answer is, for that reason this item is integrative. It includes word function and needs the participant to read to be able to give a right answer.

Rationale: In this test weare using a gap filling test item because this item will help us evaluate our Ss knowledge of vocabulary by utilizing the context of a conversation in which they will need to fill in the blank by choosing a word from a word bank and placing it in the correct place. With this item we are able to assess if the students are able to identify a word and also use it in a context that they might befacing in the future.
