INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND of the STUDY

Vermicomposting is the process by which worms are used to convert organic materials or wastes into a humus-like material knownas vermicompost. (Garg, V.K; Renuka, Gupta; Anoop, Yadav, 2006)

OBJECTIVES
Generally, this paper aims to address the growing need for a stable waste management locally and the impact ofvermicomposting and its techniques on such need. It also aims to identify the effects of the increase in population of Eudrilus eugeniae, worm vital in vermicomposting on stable waste management.Specifically, this paper aims to discuss the process of vermicomposting and the role of Eudrilus eugeniae; to identify the effects of vermicomposting on waste management and its impact on the society locally, and to address the experience of locals on stable waste management via vermicomposting.

SIGNIFICANCE of the STUDY
This paper assumes significance and importance in the light of a growing need tofind alternative methods of managing biodegradable wastes. At the same time, it can also help the government, both locally and nationally, in its efforts to stabilize waste management. Vermicompostingmay also offer potential to organic farmers as sources of supplemental income.
REVIEW of RELATED LITERATURE

METHODOLOGY
Vermicomposting process
It is an aerobic, bio-oxidation,non-thermophilic process of organic waste decomposition
that depends upon earthworms to fragment, mix and promote microbial activity. The
basic requirements during the process of vermicomposting are
