Effectiveness Of Emdr
This article is about the psychological damage caused in many citizens after the 2004 tsunami in Sri,
Lanka. The experiment was with 7 participants; 3 children and 2 adults withposttraumatic stress
disorder (PTSD) symptoms and 2 adults with depressive symptoms. The purpose was to help them
eradicate the symptoms by going through 3-8 sessions of EMDR. After thesessions these clients were
free from their depressive feelings, anxieties, intrusions, and nightmares, were able to function normally,
and were able to lead productive lives. Also, theseoutcomes replicates that EMDR is an efficacious
treatment for PTSD in general, with specific utility for disorder-related PTSD.

The independent variable was the tsunami disaster, and the dependent variable was the psychological
reactions of these citizens. The extraneous variable was the EMDR sessions.2. How many participants in the study?

The hypothesis is that these participants will be able to eradicate their symptoms by going through
EMDR sessions.

There were seven subjects in this experiment.
7. What were the results?
Thesymptoms were eradicated and these clients were free from their symptoms. They were able to
function normally, and lead productive lives.
8. What type of study would you want toconduct?
I will conduct the same study. The results of this study were very effective. It proved that the EMDR
treatment will help to eradicate the symptoms and it also helps with PTSD symptoms.
