THE SHOEMAKER AND THE ELVES

Long ago, there lived a poor shoemaker who had almost no work. One day, sad and tired, he cut the last piece of leather he had, he had no money to buy more, and went tobed very early.

When the next morning, the shoemaker got up and went into his modest workshop, he found the biggest surprise of his life on his desk was a beautiful pair of shoes made withleather which I cut the day before.

Shoemaker called his wife and asked if she had done, but she did not know anything.

Carefully examined the shoes and found that it was the best job I had everseen, whoever would have made those shoes was a real artist.

Soon a man came by very rich and distinguished, and saw the shoes at the door. He went and told the cobbler:

- Good man, let me seethose shoes, if they are on sale?
- Of course, sir, 'replied the shoemaker, giving the shoes.

The customer examined carefully and said:

- I congratulate you, are the best shoes I've seen in a longtime. From now on, you'll always my shoes, and also I recommend to my friends.
The gentleman very generously paid for the shoes and the shoemaker ran to show the coins to his wife.
He then went tobuy leather, thread and all I needed to continue working, full of joy at his good fortune.

Thanks to its distinguished client coins had given him, the shoemaker was able to buy material to maketwo pairs of shoes.
That night he cut leather, yarns prepared and went to bed early because he was exhausted with excitement.

In bed, he and his wife were talking a long time, doing all sorts ofassumptions about who might be so neatly sewn shoes last night. But that gave more laps, could not clear up the mystery, and finally slept.

So imagine the surprise and joy of the shoe when the nextmorning, he found on his desk two pairs of shoes as nice as the previous day.
He called his wife and danced for joy together, certain that some mysterious protector watching over them.
