NOMBRE CIENTIFICO: MACROPUS GIGANTEUS.

Los canguros poseen grandes y poderosas patastraseras, pies diseñados para saltar, pueden llegar a saltar hasta 9 metros de longitud. El canguro es un animal más alto que el hombre. Alcanzan hasta 3 metros de longitud,
COLA
Tiene una colalarga para mantener el equilibrio y actúa como contrapeso del resto del cuerpo en los grandes brincos.
CABEZA
Posee una cabeza pequeña.
PELAJE
Por ser denso y espeso, aísla tanto del frío de la nochecomo del calor del día.
ESPERANZA DE VIDA
18 años aproximadamente.
REPRODUCCION
El embarazo de la “mamá canguro” dura 30 a 40 días y las crías al nacer miden de 2 a 3 centímetros y pesan 1gramo. Después pasan 8 meses en la bolsa llamada marsupial que su madre tiene en la barriga, alimentándose de su leche.
ALIMENTACION
Los canguros son grandes herbívoros que se alimentan de hierbas yraíces.
HABITAT
Australia, Tasmania y Nueva Guinea. En bosques secos, maleza,
praderas, planicies aridas y desiertos.
