El Cuerpo Humano Ingles
It is usual to hear that we are psychologically stronger than what we think, that is why we can overcome many emotional troubles. But what about our body? Are we biologicallystronger than what we think?
The human body can make extraordinary things under pressure; things that we are not aware of but only under extreme situations. Our body is composed by 206 bones, morethan 600 muscles (which must be moved in an harmonic way to be used by us, for example to walk we need 200 muscles; to drive, 100 and to pick up a cup of coffee, 70; besides, each muscle hasthousands of muscle fibers) the combination of the bones and the muscles is a resistant and flexible frame that allow us to pull and push as we want; what is more, this relationship between strength andweight in the human body is unique in the planet. Muscle tissue works due to contraction, namely, it pulls from the bone and use it as a lever.
In the documentary we can see some examples of all thewonderful things that our body is able to do. To start with, let’s mention Matt’s story, who survived from a huge fall that he had when he was taken by a hurricane. People find it difficult to believethat he survived, but even more incredible that he didn’t get hurt. It happened since all his muscles were relaxed because he had fainted after he was hit by a lamp. He is alive because his bonesabsorbed the hit against the ground in a uniform way.

The explanation given by the documentary is that people can raise a lot of weight when they are facing a crisis. In this experience, the climber`s survivaldepended on the muscles of his arms, chest and elbow and, as I had mentioned before each muscle has thousands of fibers, but human beings almost never use more than the third part of them; however, in...
