Book Review
The curious incident of the dog in the night time was written by Mark Haddon, the author of “A spot of bother” and “The red house”. The book talks about a special boy that has to facesome problems. This book is written for young adults and adults.
Christopher has 15 years old, he has the asperger’s syndrome he loves maths and wants to be a mathematician, and he lives with hisfather because his mother has dead. He was walking round his neighbour’s house when suddenly he found the dead body of Wellington, his neighbour’s dog speared by a garden fork. He decided toinvestigate the incident asking the rest of neighbour’s, but they didn’t want to tell anything and if there isn’t too much with this problem, it addeds another one, his father doesn’t want him to investigate.Will neighbours tell the truth? And, the most important thing, will Christopher find the killer?
My favourite part in the book is when Chris explains the Monty Hall’s problem to Mr Jeavons, whichconsists of:
Suppose you're on a game show, and you have to choose one of three doors, behind one door you have a car and behind the other, you have two goats. You choose the door number 1, but thedoor is not opened, and the host, who knows what is behind the doors, says number 3, which has a goat, he then says to you if you want to choose door number 2. Marilyn vosSavant said that there were 2 possibilities among 3 to choose the good answer.
The storyline was easy to follow, the book was long but it was really enjoyable. The vocabulary wasn’t complicatedso I could understand all perfectly. It has many sad things, because he tells exactly how his mother dead with his perspective and with his father one. It also talks about a murder, so it’s not alovely story, but it talks about a dog’s murder, so is not as serious as if it’s a person murder. I could feel how exactly the boy was thinking and I could think perfectly how he acts.
