What is this?
The greenhouse effect is a process by which thermal radiation from a planetary surface is absorbed by atmospheric greenhouse gases,and is re-radiated in all directions. Since part of this re-radiation is back towards the surface and the lower atmosphere, it results in an elevation of the average surface temperature above what it would be in the absence of the gases.
Solar radiation at the frequencies of visible light largely passes through the atmosphere to warm the planetary surface, which then emits this energy at the lowerfrequencies of infrared thermal radiation. Infrared radiation is absorbed by greenhouse gases, which in turn re-radiate much of the energy to the surface and lower atmosphere. The mechanism is named after the effect of solar radiation passing through glass and warming a greenhouse, but the way it retains heat is fundamentally different as a greenhouse works by reducing airflow, isolating the warmair inside the structure so that heat is not lost by convection.
The history
Las primeras referencias a este fenómeno las tenemos en el año 1827. El matemático francés Jean Baptiste Fourier observa, por primera vez, que ciertos gases, en particular el dióxido de carbono, retienen el calor atmosférico. En su parecer este fenómeno es similar al que ha visto en los invernaderos y por ello crea eltermino "effet de serre". Desde entonces el "efecto invernadero" ha sido el nombre genérico dado a esta temática.

Las investigaciones científicas prosiguen y en 1860 el físico irlandés J. Tyndall, destacado por sus investigaciones sobre la difusión de la luz a través de las suspensiones coloidales y de sus estudios sobre el deshielo, profundiza en el estudio del clima y deduce que lasconcentraciones de CO2 en la atmósfera y sus variaciones, afectan a los cambios climáticos. Sus estudios marcan una pauta de investigación que otros científicos, en años posteriores, profun-dizarán llegando a conocimientos más concretos y detallados.
Y asi suceivamente en diferentes años sigueron apareciendo estudios y nuevas formas de desarrollo del efecto invernadero en diversos países.TRADUCCION:

And so succesfully appearing in different years studies and new forms of development of the greenhouse effect in various countries.

La luz solar que todos vemos puede pasar a través del vidrio y es absorbida por todos los objetos que están dentro de esa casa devidrio.
