The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas

Part I
The History

The film tells the history about an eight year old child who went to live with his family in the countryside, far away from his old friends, and near to a concentration camp. The history is developed t in the NAZI times, when the Germans led a war against the Jews.

The child’s father was a soldier and he and his family, who were the wifeand two children, lived in Belgin. He was promoted, so he should move to the countryside where he was going to manage a concentration camp (the place where the NAZI put Jews and killed them). He didn’t want to move alone, he thought home is where the family is together, so everyone in the family should move with him. Bruno, the child, was very sad about it because he had his best friends there,in Berlin, and he thought his current house was the best one he had had. Finally he left his life in Berlin, his friends and his beautiful afternoons playing with them.

When they arrived at the new house, the children weren’t happy. The house looked terrible, lonely and fearful. There were no children who Bruno could play with and that did him very sad. Theirs mom said the house was lovely andshe tried to look happy but, really, she wasn’t happy either. In the first day Bruno could see a house through the window, which he called “the farm”. He was surprised because people there wore pyjamas. He asked your mum if he could play with the children from this place and she agreed until the moment when the child said that these people, the farmer –how he called them- wore pyjamas, so she knewthey were Jews and banned him to be near of them. They were prisoners and they wore a special clothe with stripes white and black and an identification number. When Bruno asked his father who they were and why they wore pyjamas, he only said: “Those people aren’t really people at all and, the only thing you need to know about my job, was that we’re working very hard to make this world a betterplace for you to grow up in”. After, the window was blocked and Bruno couldn’t see the farm again from it.

In his first days, he’s always alone; he didn’t have friends or entertainments. He loved explore but his mom didn’t allow this because she was afraid that he speaking with people from the camp. Bruno said to his parents he was missing his friends, and even his school. His father thought tohave the solution to this problem: they’re Bruno and his sister, going to start to study, but there was a big problem to Bruno, they weren’t going to the school, the school came theirs home.

Soon they started the lessons with a very strict and bored tutor. He wanted to teach them about the current history, about the Germany war and didn’t let Bruno read more adventure books, so he was upset anddisinterested in the lessons. It’s not same to his sister, she really enjoyed the lessons learning about war because she had an additionally interest: she liked a soldier so she wanted to know about NAZI to look older and get his attention. For that reason, she bounced her dolls and full her room with NAZIs imagines.

Bruno met an old men, Pavel, who brought the vegetables to home every day.Pavel looked very sick and unhappy, but very love and not hurt. One day Bruno asked to a soldier, the sister’s friend, for a tire to do a swing, so the soldier ordered Pavel take the child to the back yard and find a tire to him. Pavel took him to a room with useless things. There Bruno could see the window that would allow him exploring and finding the reality. Bruno did the swing and while heplayed, trying to look at the other side, he fall down and injured. Pavel carried him and cured; he told to Bruno he was a doctor. Bruno couldn´t believe because he was a potato peeler now. Bruno though Pavel had chosen to leave the doctor profession and began the farm occupation. His innocence couldn’t let him to see the reality and later, in the movie, he said he doesn’t understand why the adults...
