EL PROBLEMA DE LA CONTAMINACIÓN DEL RÍO MEDELLÍN
El Río Medellín nace en el alto de San Miguel en el municipio de Caldas y tiene un recorrido de 98 kilómetroshasta su confluencia con el Río Grande, de allí en adelante se convierte en el Río Porce.
Las primeras manifestaciones de la contaminación del Valle de Aburrá sesintieron inicialmente en las 60 quebradas que están ubicadas en la zona más densamente poblada de Medellín y que desembocan en el río sin ningún tipo de tratamiento. Lapresencia de estas quebradas hizo que para la comunidad siempre fuera fácil deshacerse de sus desechos líquidos y muchas veces sólidos.
Es así como en la actualidadun largo trayecto del río ubicado entre Itaguí y Barbosa, presenta condiciones anaeróbicas donde no prospera ningún tipo de vida acuática y donde además, laapariencia y los malos olores están afectando a la población.

The Medellín River rises in the height of San Miguel in, thetown of Caldas and has a distance of 98 miles to its confluence with the Rio Grande, thereafter becomes the Porce River.
The first manifestationsof pollution Aburrá Valley was initially felt in the 60 streams that are, located in the most densely populated area of Medellín and flowing into the river without any, treatment. Thepresence of these streams made for the community was always easy to get rid of their liquid waste and often solid.
Thus today a long way from the river locatedbetween Itaguí and Barbosa, presents anaerobic conditions where there any aquatic thrives and where also, appearance and odor are affecting the population lives.
