Dynamic Duo, Professor Ian Robbins and Psychologist Dr. Tim Green, attempted to simulate containment in order to asses its impact on the brain itself. in a retired nuclear bunker to find out how thebrain responds to being deprived of stimulation. Dr. Wolfe came to the realization that the human eye, seeming impossibly complex, can only take in so much. He presented the idea of an overloadmechanism used to compact the mass of data that flows in through our eyes.
How is it possible that people were brainwashed so effortlessly by sensory deprivation. Because the silence and boredom is soextreme and detrimental to the mind of the subject it is cruelty in its purest form. Without stimulation we are not able to function properly. Are these studies ethical? Is it fair to sacrifice normalhealthy people to such a traumatizing experience. The research must be done in order to understand exactly how vital stimuli is but, what determines who will be sacrificed. Provided a subject with alifestyle similar to Adam’s, entertaining crowds with his punch lines, the last possible thing they need is to be denied that stimuli they rely so heavily upon. Is it possible that isolating suchordinary people is able to strip them of all their mental and emotional characteristics?
Subjects are forced to endure such rigorous experiements that require them to test emotional and mental limits. Thetests are not only meticulous but, they can be emotionally straining as well. They are able to develop self destructive strategies following the study that do not always disappear immediately. Studiesas specific as those done to observe sensory depravation, can be directly linked to causing long-term damage to the central executive part of the brain. It is not ethical to force subjects to endureharsh conditions merely because we rely on them in order to conduct accurate research. When does a study become to dangerous for humans to undergo. We are not able to predict and prevent the multiple...
