The 2011 EmTech MIT conference, the annual technology event focused on identifying and defining high-growth technology sectors, featured distinguished speakers from the IT, energy, and lifesciences industries on October 18-19 at the MIT Media Lab. Attendees got to see the latest technologies inaction, as executives from 1366 Technologies, Bluefin Labs, Continuum, DreamWorks Animation, Ford, GE Ecomagination, IBM, Ion Torrent, PrimeSense, Sakti3, Qualcomm, and Verizon discuss theirgroundbreaking products and future services.
This year’s emtech MIT was held at the new MIT Media Lab, an expanded six-floor structure on MIT’s campus which is a showplace for new concepts indesign, communications systems, and collaborative research.

Speakers addressed a range of topics, including 3-D technologies, cloud security, and digital business. They talked about the roleof the Internet in transforming society, the latest developments in the smart grid and renewable energy, and the effect of wireless technologies on the delivery of health care.
The TR35 isTechnology Review's annual list of 35 outstanding men and women under the age of 35 who demonstrate the spirit of innovation in business and technology. This year's winners were on hand topresent their work at an awards ceremony at EmTech MIT on October 18. The honorees blazed new paths in medicine, energy, communications, IT, consumer technology, entertainment, and robotics.
