Many times we encounter difficult experiences or moments that show great courage in them. For this reason there are many things that come to my mind, but the most important I believe,are about the soldiers who fought in a war. I thought to write about it, because I had a great-grandfather who was a doctor in the war. The Chaco War between Paraguay and Bolivia was fought fromSeptember 1932 until June 1935. His name was Agustin Miranda, and he was 35 years old and he provided assistance during the war. He was married to my great-grandmother Rosalia Fernandez. He left fourchildren, three girls and one boy home alone. My grandfather, the youngest son of my great-grandfather, had big courage, because he had to maintain a calm face throughout the danger he experienced.
Helost his father when he was just six years old and had to take care of his sisters and mother. Even though he was just a kid, he had to be the man of the house and take care of his family. My grandfatherhad to wake up early at 5 am every day to milk the cows for breakfast, feed the farm animals and then go to work to in order to receive money for his sister’s education and for him. Thanks to God,my grandfather is still alive to tell his exploits about how the family was able to get ahead regardless of the moments that they had to go through.
My great grandfather was a person with a big spiritof service and self-sacrifice. He helped people with different types of psychological and physical disease. The diseases were caused by the lack of food and water. The battle zone was very warm andaffected the health of the surviving soldiers. I am sure that my great grandfather lived terrible moments during the war.
