Two Major Languages Together
Humans have ability to communicate through language. In the world there are manydifferent languages such as English, French, Mandarin, and Spanish. English and Spanish are among the most widely used languages in many countries around the world; These two languages aredifferent, but have many similarities.
Spanish is a romance language and part of the Indo-European language family. It is closely related to Italian and Portuguese. Spanish, for the most part, usesLetters written and shaped like those in English, and also has many similar words emerging from the same source, the Latin Language (Irene E. pg 24). Spanish’s language uses the Latin alphabet like English.This is a big similarity and big plus and assistance for the Spanish’s people to learn English. In Spanish the vowels can take an acute accent, and there is the additional letter ñ. For expample,niño, niña, and azúcar. When spelling English words or writing them from the teacher’s dictation, beginning Spanish student may make mistakes with the English vowels a, e, and i. The consonants h, j, andr may also cause trouble, since they have significant differences in Spanish.
English is a West Germanic language that arose in the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of England and spread into what was tobecome South-East Scotland under the influence of the Anglian medieval Kingdom of Northumbia (Jean Yates pg2). The English writing system itself causes no particular problems to Spanish learners.Beginners, However, may be tempted to
