ASSESSMENT TASK 1

According to Brown (Brown, James D 1988) the research I would like to do will be primary research because the source will be my own students and it willalso be longitudinal because I am observing a small group during a period of six months attending a class 3 hours a week.

My research will be on a male group of advanced English students who arebetween 30 to 35 years old, same nationality (Mexican) all of them born in the City of Veracruz and working for the same company. All of them have senior positions inside the company and have the samelevel of responsibility, same working schedule and same salary and benefits scheme. All of them coming from the same university. I would like to know how fluency and accuracy in Englishis improved when the students attend a face to face class or they take online classes. Bien! Este será el tema de tu investigación

So at the beginning and at the end of the study students will betested based on the International English Language Testing System band descriptors obtaining a band score from 1 to 9 according to their performance. These results will give a possibility of havingboth an ordinal scale or an interval scale, the ordinal will go from more fluent to less fluent and the more accurate to less accurate and the interval which will also give the distance between thebands according to the descriptors.

My research will contain two dependent variables which are fluency and accuracy in English, an independent variable which is the group of advanced students, anintervene variable: the mean in which the students are exposed to the language, in this case face to face with a teacher or online. There is also a moderator variable: only male and from 30 to 35 yearsold.
